Palo Alto Networks Nears $20 Billion Acquisition of CyberArk
Palo Alto Networks is in advanced discussions to acquire Israeli cybersecurity firm CyberArk Software in a deal valued at over $20 billion. The transaction, expected to close this week, WOULD mark Palo Alto's largest acquisition to date, dwarfing its 2020 purchase of Expanse for $1.25 billion.
CyberArk shares surged 12% to $428.72 following the news, eclipsing February's record high. Meanwhile, Palo Alto's stock dipped 5% to $194.60, though it maintains a 9% year-to-date gain. The acquisition would bolster Palo Alto's cybersecurity dominance as it seeks to address emerging threats in an increasingly digital landscape.
The cybersecurity giant, currently valued at $130 billion, continues its aggressive expansion strategy. CyberArk's specialized privileged access management technology would complement Palo Alto's existing suite of security solutions, creating a more comprehensive defense against sophisticated cyber attacks.
